Off to a good start!
When the children come launched digitally on 8th January 2021, and by 12th Jan it had edged into the top 1000 books on Amazon US, and had a great first week, in Canada too. The Blog Tour led to some brilliant reviews, followed by more 4* / 5* reviews. Lara is the surprise hit character, though of course people want more of Sally. I’ve noticed that people are already searching Amazon for the sequel, so I had better keep cracking on with it. …
A tale of two blog tours
Recently I did two blog tours for 66 Metres, one in the US and one in the UK. I’d never done a blog tour before, so was intrigued to see how it worked and what was the result. What I wanted from the tours was more exposure, more reviews, and more sales. I had no idea how to organise one myself, and after spending quite a lot of time getting turned down by bloggers (too busy), and one or two bloggers to agree, I decided to have someone organise them for me, and duly doled out some cash.…
Find out what your readers like about your writing
Most authors love getting reviews. Especially good ones. And if you’re planning on writing more than one book, and especially if you’re writing a series, you want to make sure you keep them happy. You can always dwell on the bad reviews, but hey, there will always be some who don’t like what you write. And even if you change the way you write, those people probably aren’t going to read you again, so, in the words of Tolkein’s Lord of the Rings, why not ‘turn towards the light’?…
